Wedding favours originally started many years ago with the giving of five lumps of sugar presented in a beautiful porcelain box.Why was it they only gave five lumps, well the five lumps were to represent health, wealth, happiness, long life and fertility. Why it was they used sugar was because sugar was a very scarce at the time and so it was a great honour for guests to recieve sugar.
